The Hydrosphere
Part of what makes our Earth a special place is the presence of a beautiful molecule called water which is found on this planet in all three phase: liquid (water), solid (ice) and gas (vapor). All of the water on Earth, including the oceans, lakes, polar ice caps, rivers, ponds, swamps and even the clouds constitute the hydrosphere. The hydrosphere is dynamic (always moving) rather than static (staying the same). Water on Earth is constantly in motion and changing phase. Tides in the oceans move seawater to and fro, gravity pulls high altitude rivers down mountain slopes, energy from the sun transforms liquid water into vapor which rises up into the atmosphere before condensing and falling back to the earth in the form of precipitation! The hydrosphere is ALL around us!
